WHAT I WORE: THE MODERN SAFARI GET UP

My most recent travels took me to possibly the best place I've ever visited - South Africa. I've been to Africa before, but this was my first time in the country and I of course had to make full use of my time there, to shoot some new content for you all, and to show off some of my favourite summer trends. For this post, I've teamed up with Topman, to bring you two different looks with my up-to-date take on summer safari wear.

Traditionally when you think of Safari and Africa, you turn to whites and beiges, however I wanted to mix this up a little by adding navy and one of this summer's top colours, khaki green. For the first look, I grabbed a pair of my go-to white jeans and wanted to layer up the top half with light, layers and a few small details in the form of a necklace and sunglasses. I also eat for a pair of suede boots for a slight western touch (shop below).

The next look is possibly one of my favourite from the trip. I tend to gravitate towards navy quite a lot so thought I'd make this colour choice a little more interesting by going for  striped trouser and chambray revere collar shirt. This is always a summer staple for us guys, and a real nod to the 50's adding that retro, open collar. I decided to leave the shirt open over a white tee, for that ultimate relaxed vibe (shop below).

When travelling it's all about comfort as well as style, especially in the heat. Africa is no different with the hot sun beating down for most of the day when you're out and about, exploring the country and an the hunt for wildlife. I found all the pieces really comfy to wear and also quite cool. They'd also be great for festival season - bringing a few smarter pieces along to style up your wardrobe. My stand out piece has to be the striped trouser though, which I have a already worn a number of times since returning. Let me know which of the two looks you like best!
