Afternoon Tea at Home House: London's Luxury Private Member's Club

Home House London - Afternoon Tea Sam Gray

What's more British than sipping the day away with afternoon tea? I was invited to try Home House London's brand new afternoon tea experience in their iconic Marylebone townhouse. Home House is a private members' club, that mixes 18th century splendour with 21st century style.

It was stablished in the 18th century, and was designed by George III’s architect, James Wyatt, to build a sophisticated palace purely for enjoyment and entertainment, at No 20 Portman Square. Today, Home House hosts a collection of characters and individuals spread across three exquisite Georgian townhouses, offering an exceptional range of facilities including restaurants, bars, The Vaults, an intimate garden, elegant bedrooms, a boardroom, a gym for members.

Their newly launched menu celebrates indulgence, with a quintessentially British menu featuring a fabulous selection of sweet treats designed by their talented pastry team; such as the Rhubarb and white chocolate éclair and Jaffa cake cigar. You have the option to indulge in a Traditional Afternoon Tea or choose to add a glass of Moët & Chandon Brut Imperial NV Champagne (or a bottle if you're wanting an extra treat).

I started the afternoon with a glass of champagne, and looked over their tea menu. Finally, I decided on the masala chai tea and waited for the cakes to arrive. The setting was perfect, and I felt like I was in an episode of Bridgerton. The pastries were the true highlight - but the real showstopper had to be the rhubarb eclair. Perfectly puffy pastry, with a tarte, but sweet filling all washed down with a bottle of champagne. Find the full menu here. (£38pp, plus an additional charge for champagne).
