I thought it was about time I bought this section back on my blog as it's something I used to do a lot more of, and that you seemed to enjoy. This weekend I'm off to Goodwood Race Course and thought I'd share with you what I plan to wear, incase any of you needed some last minute inspiration for a summer event outfit. Obviously you can swap out any of the pieces for another colour or pattern, but I wanted to throw a quick mood-board together to help you piece together a winning look (all links are below).

Mixing patterns can be a bit hit and miss at times, however if you do it right then it looks great. I love the subtle contrast with the pin striped trouser and checked linen jacket and feel it adds just the right amount of interest without going overboard. I plan on keeping the shirt simple, by opting for a crisp classic white button down.

For accessories, I knew I wanted to introduce a pop of colour with the mustard pocket square and knitted tie combo. It's a great partner colour for the royal blue jacket, and definitely suits the summer event season. I'm not normally a huge fan on bright colours, however I feel this shade still sits within quite a classic range and isn't too garish. Since the top half is quite loud, I think a simple tan loafer is best - keeping the outfit smart yet still stylish.
